The Open Innovation programme implemented in Alcobendas consisted of the search for corporations or large companies either located in Alcobendas or with an important relationship with the municipality, subsequently understanding and defining their current challenges, especially those of a technological nature and in search of efficiency and sustainability, and, on the other hand, the search for startups in national territory that could provide a response or solution to these challenges.
With this, we created an open innovation ecosystem based on the resolution of large companies’ challenges in the municipality of Alcobendas.
Innovation is increasingly seen as a must for the development and sustainability of companies, whatever their size. But also, innovation, collaboration and support between different companies, even competitors, offer opportunities that, alone, we would not be able to achieve.
CHALLENGE
The challenge in this project was, without a doubt, achieving the right fit for the development of a pilot, as well as establishing spaces of understanding between large companies, accustomed to very different work rhythms, and start-ups or newly created businesses.
The agenda setting, establishing a correct and agile communication channel and pursuing common objectives were undoubtedly the most relevant challenges we faced.
SOLUTION
Through a fully personalised accompaniment of the corporate, the startup and, of course, the new corporate-startup collaborative entity that was created, we achieved the approach and the first steps in the future pilot to provide real solutions to real challenges. In addition, we promoted, through workshops, training and masterclasses, the understanding of open innovation and the approach between both actors. Shaking up the ecosystem and asking questions together became the best vehicle for solving challenges and tackling problems together.
