DESCRIPCIÓN

In 2023, the Social Action NGO Platform launched “The NGO of the Future”, an innovative programme within its Digital Transformation Plan, with the strategic objective of strengthening the digital and innovation capabilities of organisations in the Social Action Third Sector (TSAS), thereby contributing to a more sustainable and technology-driven economy.

To address this challenge, POAS relied on Cink Venturing, experts in sustainable entrepreneurship and the application of agile methodologies, to design, develop and deliver this pioneering experience. The programme offered intensive training, specialised mentoring and personalised support, with a focus on creating digital solutions with high social and economic impact.

Over the course of more than two months, we worked with eight selected organisations, helping them evolve their ideas into viable, sustainable digital solutions with real transformative potential for society.

OPORTUNIDAD

The main challenge was to support the digital transformation of eight TSAS organisations, each operating in different contexts and with limited resources, facing structural barriers such as a lack of technological training, financial dependence on grants and resistance to change.

We designed a programme aimed at overcoming these barriers through a practical and collaborative approach, based on social intrapreneurship as a driver of innovation and change.

The key objectives were to:

  • Select eight organisations with innovative proposals focused on digitalisation and sustainability.
  • Design an intensive training and mentoring pathway tailored to their specific challenges.
  • Facilitate the evolution of ideas into functional prototypes that respond to real needs and foster a sustainable social economy.
  • Promote an organisational culture of technological transformation and continuous improvement.

This initiative positioned the Social Action NGO Platform as a benchmark in digital innovation and sustainable entrepreneurship processes within the Third Sect.

METODOLOGÍA

The programme was structured into five key phases, from research through to solution validation via a Demo Day:

1.Planning and design

  • Definition of objectives, timeline and deliverables in collaboration with POAS.

2.Diagnosis and research phase

  • We carried out 15 interviews with social organisations to assess their level of digitalisation and identified specific challenges.
  • A Challenges Dossier was produced as a basis for technological innovation.
  • Average digitalisation level: 7.9/10.

3.Selection and activation phase

Open call with 9 applications received.

  • Pre-activation activities included:
    • Introductory NoCode webinar
    • Ideation workshop (“Ideas Factory”) using a Design Thinking approach
    • Selection of 8 finalist projects by an expert committee.

4. Programme delivery phase

  • 10 training bootcamps on digital tools, leadership, traction and customer acquisition channels, impact communication, etc.
  • 3 group mentoring sessions and 28 individual sessions (more than 51 hours of one-to-one support).
  • Networking events and co-creation sessions to strengthen the community.

5. Final evaluation and closure

  • Presentation of the 8 projects at the Demo Day held at the Por Talento Digital HUB of Fundación ONCE.
  • Preparation of a good practices report as a reference for other organisations.

IMPACTO

The NGO of the Future demonstrated that digital transformation in the Third Sector is possible when accessible training, innovative technology and expert human support in sustainable entrepreneurship are combined.
